Why should mozzarella get all the appetizer-glory? Fried Gouda Cheese Sticks are unique and so delicious, especially when paired with a homemade aioli dipping sauce.

Ingredients:
Cheese Sticks
 12 sticks Gouda cheese
 3 eggs, beaten
 ¼ cup milk
 2 cups italian breadcrumbs
 1 qt oil for frying
Homemade Aioli
 1 cup olive oil mayonnaise
 1 tbsp lemon juice
 1 tbsp fresh parsley
 2 garlic, minced
 salt
 pepper
1

Set up a dredging station with two bowls. In one, whisk the eggs. In the second, add the milk.

2

Working with one stick at a time, dip the cheese into the milk, and then into the breadcrumbs. Dip the coated stick back into the milk, and again into the breadcrumbs. Set the cheese stick aside on a lined baking sheet. Repeat with all the cheese.

3

When all the cheese is coated, place them in the freezer for 1 hour.

4

While the cheese is freezing, make the aioli. Combine the olive oil mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and then cover and let sit in the fridge so the flavors combine.

5

Heat a quart of oil in a large pot to 350°F.

6

Working with a couple of cheese sticks at a time, carefully lower them into the oil and fry for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove to a paper towel lined plate and repeat with remaining cheese sticks.

7

Serve hot with homemade aioli dipping sauce.
